Over the years, this 1913 Venice bungalow had been neglected with random additions degrading the character and flow of the house. The predominant bungalow style of the 1920s sets the tone and scale for the walk streets and resonates a sense of comfort and familiarity. The chance to reconstruct the bungalow presented the opportunity to edit, modernize and bring it back to it’s context. The remodeled bungalow is now a lighter, more pristine image of its former self and the ‘black box’ addition was designed as a simple, receding backdrop to support it.
